What a lovely surprise!

When I asked Laila about a little bag she made, I never thought she would send me one as a present!
It was such a lovely surprise to find a big envelope from Norway!
And there were even more pretty things, she also sent me precut fabrics and all what I need to make two other bags!!! A unique timble , a napkin with norwegian moose, a photo printed on fabric, and a lovely card. It made me so happy! What a surprise!
I just love everything, Laila!

Who would not be happy with these lovely gifts?

Now it is time to take a break from blogging...
My sons have summer vacation from school and we want to enjoy it.

In August I'll come back to my blog again ! ;o)))

Until there, I wish each of you a wonderful summer!
With lots of sunshine and busy hands!

New bread recipe

After reading about this book in some blogs, I decided to get it and try the revolutionary recipe.
It was interesting to read about so many things I never thought of . I learned how to bake bread with my mom and my granny (she was Italian) and all that matters was the way they taught me (all the chemistry process....what does that mean?!!).

Anyways,I had fun reading the book, and there are a lot of recipes, I'll try them one at a time.

The bread was delicious! With a crispy crust and a wonderful smell, it was gone in minutes!

What about quilting?
I am finishing the last sections!
Two more and then I can set them together.

I wish each of you a lovely and creative week!

To wait or not to wait? See you at the quilt shop!

Oh boy...guess what?!
I've been tagged!!

"Hi Suzie- me again.

I had to do a meme today ...want to play some tag? You're it!!

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your Summer. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.

I thought this was a good way of sharing a bit more than crafting.

Best Wishes,
Melanie

That is not so easy for me, but I'll do my best!

Here they are:

1. Viva La Vida - Cold play
2. Carry you home - James Blunt
3. Mr. Rock and Roll - Amy MacDonald
4. Bubbly - Colbie Collait
5. Nine million bycicles - Katie Melua
6. Summer wine - Ville Valo and Natalia Avelon
7. Better in time - Leona Lewis

The FQs I ordered for the "quilt as you go" project...
Where are they?....
I don't understand why it is taking so long...How long would you wait?
I AM patient, I can endure a lot, but my family insists on saying that this is the motto for me : "God, give me patience. Right now!". Don't you agree it IS mean to say something like that to a quilter?! Think about all the months we work on a piece until it is done!!! We ARE patient!!!

I've waited long enough!!!
So, I'm almost on my way to a quilt shop and there I hope to get some nice fabric for my quilt (why didn't I do that before? Silly old me...). No more waiting, enough is enough!

The dough for bread is ready, I'll put it in the fridge and tomorrow we'll have fresh baked bread (it is a great recipe and I'll post about it !) AND fresh washed fabric! ;o)))

Happy quilting everyone!

Getting foward

Quilting, quilting, quilting!
The two rolls are ready to be sewn together and that was part of the task I set for this week.

That is how they look now:

I used different FQs, some that I had on my stash and some that I bought.
But I needed more than I thought (I have my problems with math...) and so I ordered the rest.
Well, I'm still waiting for them!... A short break? No, that is not on my plans!...
Here is the back:

I love the dolphins, they look so happy and pleased, as if they were always smiling.

I trimmed the sections and layed them right sides together. Then I cut stripes 1 1/2" ( here I realized it can be a little bit less, all the seams and the batting make quite volume!). I had to pin all the layers together to sew:

I trimmed the batting away just a little bit more. Then I pressed the strip under 1/4" and used pins to secure it in place for hand sewing:

I hope to get my order soon! There is some more quilting to be done!!
Fortunately, I have so many other projects on the go that I can't get bored!
And I can start to sew the borders. Anne Ida gave me such a great idea, I love the border she thought of! But, I don't have more fabrics for that...
According to the challenge rules, the top should be sewn only from the stash. It is allowed though to buy some fabric for the backing and batting. So, I guess I have to work on the stripes I have left.
I could also sew some pouches and other bags! I have loads of patterns!....As my DJ says, I have a little bag for every day AND night, too! :o)))

I wish each of you a lovely and creative week!

New fabrics, another catalog and new ideas!

Last Saturday I visited a quilt shop, I wanted to see what new goodies came in. There were so many beautiful fabrics, new books, buttons!....
After going by and taking it in my hands more than a couple of times, I just had to buy this pretty FQ selection!

I know, it is blue again!... But not only blue, the reds are pretty, too and I love this combination!
I have no idea what I will sew with them, but the idea will be coming soon!

Then I got this great catalog. I can look for hours and dream of all the wonderful fabrics and wonderful quilts I could make....What an eye-candy!

And they have a lot of patterns, too!
I found this one quite interesting. ...And it starts "itching"!!! I'd love to go and look for fabrics in my stash and ....yes, I'd love to start sewing another one!!! It is crazy, I know...But that is the addiction!
I'm so glad you know what I'm talking about, we feel the same, don't we?!

This here is also a fun one, a lot of scraps:

But the challenge is calling me!
During the weekend I did not make as much progress as I wanted to...
Today is the first of July, which means I still have time, but I also have some other projects that I must finish!
So, these are the tasks for this week:

1. get at least two rolls done (1 roll = 3 sections)

2. get the rolls sewn together

3. show it all in my blog!

Unfortunately I don't have too much time today, but every single minute counts!
Time to get my b... in gear!
See you soon!
Have a lovely and creative week!
